Winter can be a tough season for motorcycles. Before the snow begins to fall and temperatures drop, be sure to read our helpful tips on motorcycle winterization. If you’re in need of any last-minute repairs, feel free to stop by our location in Perris, California!!

Cleaning

Motorcycles can accumulate quite a bit of dust, dirt, and mud over time. If this debris is allowed to sit, it can result in rust and corrosion — especially when snow and ice are added to the mix. Before winter arrives, we advise giving your motorcycle a good scrub. Afterward, you can apply a shiny coat of wax to help keep everything protected!

Maintenance

While you’re getting your motorcycle cleaned up, it’s a good idea to take a quick look at the engine. If you plan on placing your motorcycle in storage, we advise getting an oil change, putting a fuel stabilizer in the tank, and removing your battery to attach it to a trickle charge. If you aren’t placing your motorcycle into storage, we advise checking and topping off fluids such as antifreeze, coolant, brake fluid, and finally, your oil.

Storage

If you’d like to take your vehicle out and about this winter season, that’s totally fine! Just be sure to stay on top of your motorcycle’s maintenance. Remember to let it warm up before each ride, and drive carefully. However, if you would like to store your bike this season, we strongly encourage you to find a garage, shed, or a storage unit to place it in. Not only will this better protect your motorcycle from the elements, but it should also help you avoid theft. Finally, before storing your vehicle away for the season, be sure to use a well-fitted cover and double-check the air pressure in your tires.
